Time Banks
Barbara Edwards is keen to promote the idea of Time Banks in the HTAG community. The time dollar scheme was started by Edgar S Cahn in 1986. One of the earliest schemes was centred round a retirement home. People can spend an hour getting a prescription for someone and earn a time dollar which they can then exchange for some service they need. It is like barter or sharing but it widens the circle; you don't have to find two people with completely compatible needs. If you were in a baby sitting circle, that was a similar principle. To read on click here and look under Time Banks.

HTAG Annual General Meeting
The following is an extract from the Chairman's report. "Everything HTAG does is useful and mostly fun and expands the opportunities open to our members. But activities take time and effort to organise and we all have other things we enjoy doing outside HTAG. We need more people to give up a little time to help keep the show on the road - perhaps by shadowing an existing committee member. What inhibits many people from volunteering is the strong suspicion that if he or she offers to help once a month he or she will end up running HTAG. I promise that won't happen unless he or she wants it to!" To see the report in full click here.

Recycling efforts in Guildford
There is a possibility that Holy Trinity will be the first ward in the borough to carry out what is known in other areas as Junk Swap Days. You put all the stuff you don't want but which is not rubbish outside your front door, then you go and look at all your neighbours' stuff and help yourself to anything you want or need. It really works (and has done so for years in Holland) and it saves stuff from going to landfill. Let us know your views by going to the Contact Us page.
