Guildford Museum Finds Identification Day
On Thursday 28 October from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm, bring along your finds from gardens, fields, or anywhere else to be identified by Surrey's Finds Liaison Officer, David Williams. This is Free!! Wey Ceramics Society
The Wey Ceramics Society will be holding their winter Exhibition "Shimmering Ceramics" in November 2004, at Country Pictures Gallery, 3 miles south of Bramley (on the A281). Harvey Gallery
From 1 November to 13 November there will be a selection from the final year degree work of Farnham Art College Students, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and installation, all in a contemporary idiom. They are all mature students, aged from 36 to 67, from a variety of backgrounds.

Guildford Lion's Firework Fiesta
Free! On Friday 5 November come and join the torchlit procession from the Guildhall to Stoke Park, watch the beacon being lit and enjoy the spectacular firework display. All donations go to charity. Starts 7.30 pm. All enquiries 07719 695174. For more information go to the Guildford Lions website.

Harvey Gallery Silver Jubilee Celebrations 2004
The Harvey Road Gallery was established in 1979 by students and staff of what was then called The Visual Arts Centre, which was part of Guildford Adult Education Institute. Since then, it has provided an important arts facility for Guildford by showing the work of professionals, amateurs, students and community groups. Now called Harvey Gallery and part of the Adult Learning Centre, it has come to represent how a much needed larger centre for the arts might function, and serve this important town. Herald Players
At 8.00 pm on 10, 11, 12 and 13 November the Herald Players present the comedy Grapes and Raisins. by Lawrence Roman at the Electric Theatre. Tickets £8.00 (£6.50 concessions). For more information about the Herald Players go to their website, or phone the Box Office on 01483 444789.

Guildford Chamber Choir
At 7.30 pm on 13 November the Guildford Chamber Choir. will present a concert in aid of CHASE Children's Hospice Service. The concert is full of pieces from the early 17th Century to the late 20th Century inspired by Mary, the Mother of Our Lord, including Magnificats by Palestrina and Heinrich Schutz and Hymns and Antiphons by Bruckner, Britten, Monteverdi, Joubert and Arvo Part. David Davies (sub organist at the Cathedral) will play two organ pieces on the same theme and the concert is conducted by Stephen Farr, Organist at the Cathedral. A Christmas Fantasia

Guildford Cathedral's Christmas Concert is on Saturday 11 December 2004 at 7.30 pm. The Cathedral Choir will be joined by the Guildford Chamber Choir and Harlequin Brass for a rousing Christmas treat. The Concert will be directed by Stephen Farr and David Davies. HTAG's "Wish List"
HTAG has been invited to submit a "wish list" of improvements that might be provided through future section 106 agreements ie planning gain, eg playgrounds, footpaths through a development, amenities such as benches, extra trees etc. If you have any suggestions please let us know fairly soon. Suggestions may be made via This site.

HTAG Coffee Morning
The next coffee morning will be, as usual, at 10.30 am on the last Thursday of the month (28 October) but at 10A Sydney Road by kind invitation of Christopher and Thelma de Chazal.

The Dream of Gerontius
On Saturday in the Cathedral at 7.30 pm, 30 October, the Guildford Philharmonic Choir are singing Elgar's "The Dream of Gerontius". This a sombre but marvellous work. A fortnight later (13 Nov), same time same place, the Guildford Choral Society are giving a Remembrance Day concert of music by Vaughan Williams and Elgar. Many HTAG members will be taking part in these concerts and would love to see you there! Tickets available from Guildford Tourist Information Centre 01483 444334

Charlotteville Barn Dance

The Hogs Back Band soon had everyone on the floor enjoying the dancing at the Charlotteville Barn Dance and Raffle on Saturday evening at Holy Trinity School. Halloween Haunts
A Charity Event: On Tuesday 30 October a costumed guide will first take you on a ghost walk, and then you will descend into a creepily decorated medieval undercroft for a warming glass of "witches brew". Tickets are available from the Tourist Information Centre, and early booking is adviseable.

Guildford Book Festival
The fifteenth Book Festival starts on 17 October and runs to the end of the month. BBC Southern Counties will be covering Festival events on a daily basis, or go to the Book Festival website or telephone the Tourist Information Centre on 01483 444334.

Harvey Gallery Exhibitions
Glory Of Colour, 18 to 30 October. A display of the crochet work and knitting produced by ninety year old Glory Romp. This body of work reveals a natural, personal sense of colour and an ability to improvise upon fashion over many decades. Barn Dance
The Hogs Back Band Present the Charlotteville Barn Dance and Raffle on 16 October 2004, 7.30 pm at Holy Trinity School. £7.00 Per Adult £2.00 per Child under 2's Free. Guildford Transport Plan
There is to be a consultation meeting at the SCC building in Cross Lanes on Wednesday, 3 November at 7.00 pm. HTAG needs someone to represent them at what will be quite a large and significant meeting to discuss a Local Transport Plan. This would give HTAG an opportunity, for example, to express a view about how traffic could be slowed along Pewley Way, Harvey Road, Pewley Hill, South Hill/Warwicks Bench etc. Any volunteers? Harvey Gallery - Elements
From 4 to 16 October there will be an exhibition of figurative and landscape paintings in oil and acrylic by Suzanne Stewart-Smith, depicting images of various components and environments, of nature and life.
