Thrumster House

Thrumster house plays host to visitors who can enjoy its special ambience as sporting holiday guests. Enjoy this unique and fascinating part of the highlands and the many very special delights of the County of Caithness, including the home of the Queen Mother, the Castle of Mey. The Yarrows archaeological site on the Thrumster Estate is one of the most important landscapes in the north. Caithness already has a huge range of examples of sites of historical value that are unique to the area in many cases. The list is already staggering and to name just a few - Lime kilns, Water culverts, Burial cairns, Cairn of Get, Chambered cairns (mostly unexcavated), Bronze Age cists, Garrywhin Hill Fort, Bronze Age Cairn, Standing Stones. To find out how to visit Caithness and stay at Thrumster House contact this site, or visit their website

Eclipse
There will be a total eclipse of the sun on Wednesday, 29 March starting in Brazil. The totality passes across Africa and Turkey and ends in Kazakhstan. There is a statistical connection between eclipses and earthquakes presumably because the Sun, Moon and Earth are perfectly aligned so the tide-raising forces are a maximum. If you are planning a spring holiday your chairman's advice is to avoid areas where the tectonic plates are not about to slip!
