| Weyside Evening Walk - 3 miles, A Grade
| |
Country Walks remaining evening walk takes place at 7.15 pm on Tuesday 20 July,
meeting at The Parrot, Broadford Bridge, Shalford, on A248 between A3100 and A281,
2 miles south of Guildford. If you do not intend to patronise the pub, please park
in the adjacent road. This is a delightful, easy, evening walk, just 3 miles in length,
along the Wey Navigation between Shalford and Guildford, where locks, bridges and narrow
boats blend with wide green water meadows. Estimated time of arrival back at The Parrot:

Last Tuesday the GBC Planning Committee deferred a decision about the proposal to
build flats on the site of Holy Trinity School to allow time for a site visit.
It's expected to come before the committee again on Tuesday, 3 August.

Guildford Local Committee
| |
The Guildford Local Committee will meet at 2.30 pm on Thursday, 22 July at Millmead.
HTAG has submitted written questions about traffic and parking in Guildford.
Questions from the floor are taken during the first 30 minutes. This is your chance
to raise matters of concern to you directly with your elected representatives.

HTAG Coffee Morning

The next coffee morning is Thursday, 29 July at 10.30 am, Rogues Wine Bar. All Welcome.
Transport can be arranged if required.

HTAG Music Evening
| |
The next music evening will be on Friday, 27 August at the slightly earlier time of 7.30 pm
in St Mary's Church. These evenings are for fun and to encourage amateur music making in Guildford.
All are welcome including those who would just like to sit and listen. Please bring a plate of finger
food and/or a bottle. We do not charge for refreshments but on this occasion we shall ask for a
donation of £1 a head for St Mary's funds. So that I can draw up a programme please let me know what
you intend to perform at least a day before. Bob Bromham and Steven Salmon have been our expert
accompanists but if you have a friend who can play for you I'm sure they would appreciate a rest!
The theme for the evening is: music for a summer evening.

HTAG "Petanque" Competition

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the entente cordiale HTAG was hoping to
organise its first petanque competition on Sunday, 5 September at 5.00 pm.
Unfortunately The Percy Arms has redeveloped its petanque "court". Does

Campaign for St Martha-on-the-Hill

The Campaign has already raised more than £320,000 and it is now launching a GEM APPEAL
to help reach its target by the end of this year. To help, look through your jewellery
boxes, cupboards, attics etc to see if there is anythng gathering dust that might be
saleable at auction. They are looking for rings, brooches, bracelets, earings, necklaces that
are of reasonably good quality. They will also take small objects d'art and collectables. For

Free funding advice for all kinds of groups including community and voluntary groups, charities
and parish councils in the Guildford and Waverly areas, to be held at Loseley Park on 23 June

Guildford Harmony Ladies Barbershop Chorus

Anne Every (UK born) and her husband Bruce (both retired) are looking for a house or flat
in the Guildford area to exchange for a 4 to 8 week period between March and November 2005.
They can offer a four bedroom, two bathroom house located 9 miles east of Melbourne (20 mins via the freeway)
in a private road on the edge of Ruffey Lake Park. They are ideally placed for both the
city and touring. Their three adult children live nearby and could offer help and advice if required.
Non-smokers only, please. The living rooms and dining room are upstairs
to take full advantage of the gallery and views, and the bedrooms and utility room are

HTAG Gardens Open Day

HTAG Gardens Open Day took full advantage of the recent opening of the Castle Keep.
Over thirty of us joined Chris Bruce, Deputy General Manager, Guildford Parks and
Countryside Services, on a tour of the Castle grounds. Not only did he give us the
horticultural whys and wherefores but he also brought the history to life. To read on go
