 | HTAG Seniors' Lunch Information
Lifts were arranged for all those unable to get there in any other way. From the moment we arrived the
Landlady made us feel welcome. She took it upon herself to attend to our every need. Wheelchair access is excellent
and for the less agile help was at hand.
Traditional fare of Fish and Chips and Steak and Guinness Pie
was available, and the Parrot's excellent chef also produced an wonderful vegetarian Lasagne and a beautifully
prepared Chicken chasseur.
This being a Seniors' Luncheon you would expect some misbehaviour. Conversation concerning our respective
operations was inevitable but when someone offered to show off his scars - the mind boggles!
Your correspondent is keeping quiet about the antics at his table, they have been censored (you are not old enough!)
but a jolly time was had by all.
Oh yes! There was Apple crumble and custard, an ice cream coupe and my companion, as the best critics say,
said the pecan tart served with vanilla ice cream was the best ever, the pastry base was perfect,
being short and dry complementing the gooey centre and crunchy nuts.
We finished with a superb coffee - dark, bitter and hot. Our hostess even arranged warm milk for
those who wanted white coffee. The bell went at three, time had flown and I am sure all of us needed a little shuteye.
Our thanks are especially due to the HTAG members who have opened their gardens, and to those of you who have
supported the garden open day. Thanks also to HTAG members who pay their subs on time and to those members
who support all our social activities. Thanks to the committee that decided to use the funds in this way.
The organisation of all these activities takes time and effort. Jean Bridger arranged the Luncheon,
sent out the invitations, organised the transport, liased with the Parrot, and did the hundred and one things needed.
Thank you Jean.
