Guildford Spring Music Festival

The Guildford Spring Music Festival has published its programme of eleven concerts from March 14 to 20 at the Electric Theatre featuring musicians from the Guildford area. The Spring Festival will provide an opportunity for Guildford residents to enjoy and appreciate the wealth of talent living amongst them from professionals with national and international careers; teachers who work in the town; talented students in our schools and at London colleges who regularly win prizes; and musicians who have chosen other careers but perform to a professional standard. Students, young and old, will also be able to participate in a workshop, and master classes will be included in subsequent years. The national Lottery's "Award for All" scheme has supported the Festival with a grant, and the Humphrey Richardson Taylor Charitable Trust has also given financial assistance for this, the inaugural year. It is intended that it will be a biennial festival of Guildford talent running alternately with the Guildford International Festival promoted by the University

The concerts range from violin, harpsichord, saxophone, piano and vocal recitals to chamber music given by a piano trio, guitar quartet and string quartet. The opening event is a workshop for single reed instruments, and the Surrey Mozart Players will give the final concert. Full details of each concert are now posted on the website, www.gsmf.co.uk and in the Festival Brochure/Diary, which is available from the Electric Theatre, the Tourist Office and Libraries. Tickets are available now at the Electric Theatre Box Office on 01483 444789.
