Thanks to Norah Casey and Mary Bowers for their long service as Road Reps for Abbot road and Semaphore Road
respectively. We also thank Nigel Platt and Simon Page for taking over from them. We are still urgently
seeking two Road Reps, one for Pewley Hill (bottom - about 14 households) and one for Pewley Hill (upper evens - about 23
households). Please let us know if you would be willing to become involved. Duties include delivering the
quarterely
Newsletters (good exercise!) and attending the quarterely Road Reps meetings (very interesting and sociable).

Charlotteville Pancake Race
| |
If you are still wondering whether or not to join in the fun tomorrow,
the following letter was received from Wayne Moulds, Watch Commander, Guildford Blue Watch (Fire Brigade) after
the last Pancake Race: -
"Thank you very much for spending the time to send me the photo's from the pancake race day. I can
speak for my whole crew when I say that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and hope that we helped in
some small way, even if it was to make a spectacle of ourselves. Add to that the bonus of winning a prize
of course, which was not something we had in mind hence the wearing of full fire kit and breathing apparatus!
Still, once the competitive spirit kicks in........ Thanks again for the photos, and I hope the day
was a success for your cause. Please let me know if we can help again."

| Charlotteville Burns Supper
| |
A splendid evening. Oliver Carson piped the guests through the Atrium to the dining hall which was beautifully
decked in tartan colours. Graham Dean toasted the Haggis with exceptional suave after which he brutally
speared the beast and stabbed and thrust its entrails about to tremendous hilarity from the guests; it was
very funny indeed; thank you Graham for such an exceptional performance. The supper was delicious with Haggis
from McSweens, and Neeps, Tatties, Black Bottle Scotch (courtesy of Paragon Wines), Typsy Laird all prepared
by Jane Thomson. The band opened with the Gay Gordons and played some excellent music with almost everyone
dancing. The evening drew to a close all too soon. Roll on 2007! Click
here and go to the Events pages to see more photos of the evening, or look at the
Charlotte Jubilee Trust website. To see photos from last year's Burns Supper click
here and scroll down the list on the Events pages.

| Tyting Farm Update
| |
Tyting Farm is an absolutely crucial part of the landscape of the North Downs. It forms the setting for St
Martha's Hill and is an integral part of the swathe of agricultural landscape which stretches from Pewley Downs,
Guildford to Newlands Corner and beyond to the east. It is arguably the most walked and visited open
space in Surrey and is Guildford's premier open space. Guildford Borough Council is intending to sell a
key part, Tyting Farm, in six lots at prices to exclude agricultural use. The buyers and users are likely
to be urban not agricultural. With the farm broken up and fragmented to urban owners the landscape is
likely to be destroyed. Click
here to see a map of the farm or
here to see the latest Flier.

Features pages, or visit
