stickers are available free from Health Centres, GP's surgeries and pharmacies. For

Pewley Down Volunteers
| |
During the winter the volunteers have been concentrating on cutting back some of the scrub
which has grown up round the edges of the grassland. The scrub also has to be managed
for wildlife by creating a mosaic of tall bushes, low shrubs and open glades.
Birds such as Song Thrush, Bull Finch, Dunnock and Blackbird will thrive here.
The next two meetings are on Saturday 20 March and Wednesday 21 April, both
from 10.00 am to 12.30. On Saturday 15 May, from 10.00 am to 12.30, they will
hold a Spring Flower Count. The volunteers need to monitor which species grow on
which part of the Down, so that they can repeat the study in one year's time.
Anyone is welcome to join in. Our AGM will be on Thursday 22 April 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm at
Burchatts Farm Barn in Stoke Park. The dogs featured are Bertie, a rough haired
Jack Russell and Tiny, a Jack Russell/Fox Terrier puppy. For more photos go to our
Gallery pages, then click on Events where they are near the top of the events listed.

HTAG Involvement in Local Planning
| |
Planning decisions are "led" by the Borough Plan (2003). This is based on government and
regional guidelines. It is backed up by subsidiary documents such as supplementary
planning guidelines (SPGs), planning briefs, etc. Amenity groups and residents'
associations (AGs) are invited to provide an input to these. In theory all planning
applications can be decided by reference to them. In practice there is some room for
interpretation. Click on the
Features Pages) to continue reading.

| HTAG Theatre Outing - Thursday 29 April
| |
Angie Hargreave's theory this year is for everyone to have a "Good Cheering up", so she
has chosen "Round the Horn . . . . Revisited" as the next Theatre Outing. Those of you
who remember this programme between 1965 and 1968 will know that it was hilarious! Brian
Cooke is the last survivor of the writing team who kept radio listeners happy with "Round
the Horn" in the 60's. Now he has pieced together a show from the original, but it's much
cheekier! Five gifted actors bring Horn and his colleagues back to life and the laughts
come thick and fast. It's a return trip to the golden age of innuendo, and it makes for
an exceptionally entertaining evening, so please do come. We will leave from the top of
Bright Hill (as usual) at 5.30 pm. on Thursday 29 April. The show starts at 7.30 and is approximately 90 minutes
long, but I have arranged for the coach to pick us up at 10.15 so we can have a wander, or
even find somewhere nice to have a drink for an hour after the show. We cannot be dropped
immediately outside the theatre, but it's only a two minute walk away. Cost of the tickets to
include coach is £30 each. Please phone Angie on 563495 for further details and to book.
