Fresh Fish Straight to your Door

This is a small family run fishmongers, owned and run by Norman Mackay and his partner Tracey, based in the traditional fishing town of Wick, Caithness in the far North of Scotland. Wick was at the centre of the Herring industry around 1860 - 1890. At this time around 1000 boats would have been in the harbour at any one time disgorging their catch of herring. The building has always been a fishmongers and can be seen in a painting by L.S. Lowry entitled Blackstairs. To read on go to their website above.

Billy Elliot
On behalf of HTAG members Angie Hargreaves has bought some tickets for "Billy Elliot, the Musical" for Wednesday, 14 September. This is a first class show full of life, humour, gritty dialogue, social realism and, of course, some athletic dancing. The tickets are £52.50, which includes the coach to and from the theatre. HTAG Road Reps Meeting
We have had to change the provisional date of the next Road Reps meeting from 5 September to Monday, 26 September. As usual it will be at Jean's at 8.00 pm. This means that copy for the newsletter will now be due on Thursday, 15 September.

East Guildford Residents Association (EGRA)
EGRA recently sent their 'Top Issues' paper, listing residents' concerns, to councillors and Guildford Borough Council, and this was well received. As a follow-up, EGRA had a meeting with David Williams, Chief Executive of GBC, and others to discuss issues such as housing allocation, housing densities, good design, parking provision and protection of the Green Belt. Heritage Days
Forty-four historic buildings will open in Guildford on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September. Twenty-six historic and interesting village churches will be open during the afternoon, between 2.00 pm and 5.00 pm. Guildford Archaeology and Local History Group.
A society for anyone interested in local history and archaeology in the Guildford area is being re-launched by Guildford Museum and the Surrey Archaeological Society. The 'Guildford Group' of the Surrey Archaeological Society is over 30 years old and is being re-launched to attract a wider audience. You do not have to be a member of the Surrey Arch.Soc. New Restaurant in Guildford
Some of you may know that Cinzia from Bar Centro has opened her own restaurant. On the the trial opening night, a variety of delicious food was enjoyed by those lucky enough to be invited. HTAG Coffee Morning
The next coffee morning will be at 10.30 am on Thursday, 25 August in The Forresters Arms, aka the Pig and Tater.

Road Reps
Jo Reynolds, sometime Road Rep for Addison Road, has moved to Cranleigh. She has been active in the Charlotteville Trust and HTAG and for this, and much else, she will be sorely missed. A group of her friends and neighbours met in the Forresters Arms last Tuesday to thank her for her contribution to the life of the community and wish her well in Cranleigh. Happily she will still be playing in the Bridge Circle.

Cycling Proficiency Courses
Surrey County Council has asked the residents in High Pewley and the top of Pewley Hill to accommodate four cycling proficiency courses in September and October. I have written a letter to those most directly affected; further details from me or the Road Reps.
